Freel Perk, coffee with altitude, is locally owned and operated by Barbara Gerland, a 33-year resident of Meyers. The new spot to get your caffeine fix on the way into or out of town, Freel Perk features Alpen Sierra Coffee, which is a locally roasted, organic, fair trade coffee.
Looking for a refreshing and healthy way to rev-up your body for an excursion in Hope Valley or out at Kirkwood? Stop by and grab one of Freel Perk’s fresh fruit smoothies. Or try one of their locally baked bagels, crescents or pastries from Rude Brothers Bagels, or a muffin or cinnamon roll from Sugar Pine Bakery. Freel Perk proudly partners with these other local businesses to provide the best goodies you can get in Tahoe. They also are now carrying a line of gluten-free and vegan products. Headed out for a hike? Freel Perk has breakfast sandwiches and breakfast croissants you eat in the café or take on the go.
Not only are the coffee and treats locally made, the café is decorated with the work of local artists that are also available for purchase. These one of a kind works of art are the perfect addition to any sunny cabin or quaint kitchen. While you’re enjoying the art and the mountain scenery, check out the selection of cards…you’ll be sure to find the perfect fit for any occasion.
The cafe got its name from Freel Peak - the highest mountain in Lake Tahoe Basin - and named in memory of the Freel Peak Saloon, which was across the highway where Meyers Downtown Café and Divided Sky are currently located. You can see Freel Peak from the picnic tables located in front of the café. Your furry friends are welcome to come hang out with you on the lawn while you enjoy a drink and a pastry. So bring the pets and the family, pull up a chair and relax in an inviting atmosphere. At Freel Perk you’ll be part of a community where you are more than just a number. Hours are 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
