Road conditions
Interstate Route 80:
- Chains required except for four wheel drive vehicles for 46.7 miles between Alta California Exit 146 and 0.9 miles west of Junction Hirschdale Road Exit 194.

U.S. Route 50:
- Chains required except for four wheel drive vehicles for 23.6 miles between 2 miles west of Kyburz California and 4.1 miles west of Junction of California State Route 89.
- Snowtires or chains required for 14.6 miles between 0.7 miles east of California State Line and 6.9 miles west of Junction US 395 at South Carson City.

U.S. Route 395:
- Open with no controls, high wind advisory: campers and trailers are not advised for 6 miles between 2.3 miles north of Junction US 395 Business and State Route 529-North Carson Street and Winters Ranch.

State Route 28:
- Snowtires or chains required for 26.8 miles between Junction US 50 and Tahoe City California.

State Route 88:
- Snowtires or chains required for 34 miles between 4.4 miles east of Hams Station California and Junction State Route 89 at Picketts Junction.

State Route 89:
- Chains mandatory for 2 miles between Bliss State Park and 2 miles north of Bliss State Park.
- Snowtires or chains required for 58.2 miles between 2 miles north of Bliss State Park and 7 miles north of Calpine California.

State Route 431:
- Snowtires or chains required for 21.7 miles between Junction State Route 28 and 2.8 miles south of Junction US 395.

State Route 267:
- Snowtires or chains required for 5.9 miles between Junction of
Interstate 80 at Truckee California and Northstar.
- Chains required except for four wheel drive vehicles for 6.7 miles between Northstar and Junction California 28 at Kings Beach.

LAKE TAHOE — The snow is falling, and with it comes chain and snowtire controls along many major roadways in and around the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Controls are in effect along most major Tahoe roadways, including California and Nevada state routes 28 and California routes 89 and 267.

Friday: Snow after 10 a.m. High near 43. Very windy, with a southwest wind between 35 and 40 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Friday: Scattered snow showers, mainly before 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. West wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Southwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.
