Watch master of hyper-realism paint live at South Lake

This weekend, Tahoe's premier art gallery welcomes Eric Christensen, one of their most popular new artists in the gallery. Christensen will be painting live, demonstrating his unique watercolor technique.
Eric Christensen is the only known still life wine artist rendering photorealistic work using watercolor! Beyond his stunning technique, his artwork is about lifestyle. The goal of his photorealistic wine bottles, delicious fruit spreads, and vineyard backgrounds, is to translate the joy of sharing a good bottle of wine with friends. His work evokes pleasant feelings of rest and leisure.
Christensen uses traditional watercolor tools in unique ways to achieve vibrant, realistic images. He adds gum arabic, a thickener, to his watercolors to create paint with the consistency of maple syrup and the appearance of a glazed finish. The result is glassware that has depth, sheen, and clean edges, and bottle labels that don't require eyeglasses to read!
Original pieces by Christensen are extremely rare. For its show, Marcus Ashley Galleries will feature two prized originals by this master of hyper-realism. The gallery features more than 30 artists, both limited editions and originals; they also have an impressive collection of bronze artwork.
The show is Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 30 and 31, from 2 - 6 p.m. Marcus Ashley Galleries is located in Raley's Village Center, on Highway 50 near the Heavenly Village Center in South Lake Tahoe. Previously nestled in the same complex across the parking lot, the gallery is now the cornerstone of Raley's Village Center, which offers free convenient parking.
Wine, champaign and hors d'oeuvres will be served. For more information, call (530) 544-4ART or visit www.MarcusAshley.com.
