Baroque music, wine tasting and play featured this week

Summer, Lake Tahoe and the Fourth of July — three great things that go great together. Visitors and residents alike have been visiting the Tahoe Tallac site, home of the Valhalla Arts and Music Festival, to celebrate the birth of our Nation since the late 1800s.
Some things never change and as we locals know, the historic Tallac site is still an ideal retreat to enjoy pristine scenery and unique entertainment with an educational twist all in one place.
The Valhalla Arts and Music Festival is heating up like a hot July day. We invite you to our unique cultural events and activities planned every day. Visit www.ValhallaTahoe.com for details.
Visitor can experience our Cultural Arts Store in the Valhalla Estates Twin Cabins for a taste of Lake Tahoe-based arts and crafts, souvenirs to remind you of your wonderful visit to Lake Tahoe.
And, at our Artist-in-Residence Series folks can observe and interact with local, regional and national artists at work. The store is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (See related story.)
As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary Season, we look forward to continuing the tradition of presenting incredible events in the magnificent setting of the Tahoe Tallac historic site, which is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Here’s what’s coming up this week:
n 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 7 — Dream Spirit Baroque Band in the Valhalla Grand Hall. An original mix of instruments including dulcimer, guitar, violin, cello and recorder. Adults $15, seniors $12 and Children $5.
n 6:30 p.m. July, 9 — Wine Tasting & Play, “The Dining Room” on the Valhalla Grand Lawn. An evening of wine tasting, live theater and incredible views of Lake Tahoe. Après Wine Bar will pour and describe several varietals of The Dining Room, a comedy of manners, set in a single dining room where 18 scenes from different households intertwine. It’s $30 per person or $55 per couple, which includes wine tasting and the performance. To see the play July 11, 12, 16, 17 and 18, it’s $18 per person, $15 for seniors and $5 for children. The Dining Room performances are: July 9, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18.
n 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 12 — Latino Day in the Valhalla Grand Estate: Music, dancing, food, and arts and crafts of the Latino community. The event is free.
