Art festival at Ski Run Marina this weekend

An art, food and wine festival is planned Saturday and Sunday, June 27-28 at the Ski Run Marina.
The event — 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., both days — will be in the marina courtyard. Art collectors are invited to see a sneak preview of the art and enjoy wine tasting from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Art For The Home gallery. Three international wines will be presented at the gallery by Owner JP Lonergan of the new Apres Wine Co. wine bar and shop located at neighboring Ski Run Center.
“This event will kick off what I hope is the first of many events for residents and visitors to enjoy at Ski Run Marina,” said Brian Des Rochers, president of the Ski Run Business Improvement District. “The marina and the entire Ski Run Boulevard offer some of the most scenic lake views anywhere within the city, and with all of our high-quality and locally-owned businesses and restaurants, people get a real chance to experience our local vibe which is fun and relaxed.”
The Marina offers festival visitors the enjoyment of food, wine, and art along with gift, apparel and toy shopping and recreational adventures including parasailing, guided sportfishing tours, Jet Ski and power boat rentals, and lake cruises aboard the Tahoe Queen paddleboat. Visitors can also enjoy the free public beach at the Marina by just walking in the sand, putting their toes in the water, and taking scenic pictures of the lake throughout the day. Bike riders can also enjoy the bike path that winds through the Marina’s grassy meadow.
Many of the region’s finest artists such as E. Peter Darvas, Lex Munson, Janette Reed-Lawson and Nanette Oleson will paint at the festival, showing their latest works including popular small and miniature sizes along with high-quality giclee reproductions.
“The Tahoe region is one of the most spectacular in the world, and it inspires many artists to create their most beautiful works here,” said Art for the Home gallery owner Janette Dean.
Ski Run Marina is located one mile west of Stateline at the bottom of Ski Run Boulevard.
