Concert series gets tougher with Toby Keith on board

Toby Keith’s F-150 pickup will be parked behind Harveys again this summer.
The country singer with a Ford sponsorship brings his “America’s Toughest Tour” to the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys on Aug. 30. Jack Ingram will open the show.
It is the eighth concert in the annual summer concert series, which has included Keith a number of times in recent years.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, June 29, through TicketMaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com and www.apeconcerts.com. Prices for the 7 p.m. show are $59.50, $89.50 and $125.
The first country show of the series, Kenny Chesney, sold out in less than 24 hours.
Keith’s 14th album, 2008’s “That Don’t Make Me A Bad Guy,” had a pair of No. 1 hits on the country charts: “She Never Cried in Front of Me” and “God Love Her.”
Keith’s best-known hit could be “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue, (The Angry American)” which Keith wrotein response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The song became an emotional rallying cry in the war on terror, and the title was painted on tank cannons and warplanes during the hunt for Al Qaida in Afghanistan. “Courtesy” helped the 2002 release of “Unleashed” to a No. 1 country debut, and preceded the singles “Who’s Your Daddy?” and “Beer For My Horses,” a duet with Willie Nelson, who performs in arena Aug. 16 with Bob Dylan.
Tickets went on sale June 22 for the Sept. 5 Chickenfoot show. Chickenfoot is a new supergroup with Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Chad Smith and Michael Anthony. The opening artists are Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam.
