Father's Day weekend 2009 will be different from any other Father's Day in history, ever since this celebration honoring Dad was first conceived in Spokane, Washington in 1910. That's because this year, for the first time ever, the perfect Father's Day event is set to occur on the glassy, gorgeous waters of Lake Tahoe.
That's when the 37th annual Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance will provide a treat for Dad with the nation's most prestigious wooden boat show (an event that until now has been traditionally held in August), scheduled from June 19-21 at the Sierra Boat Company in Carnelian Bay, on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.
“The entire family will have a great time strolling the docks and getting an up-close look at the antique and classic boats, meticulously and beautifully restored, while enjoying delicious food and festive music,” said Kirk Pumphrey, chairman of the Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance event.
So forget about the grills and drills, the socks and sockets, the geeky gadgets and bad neckties. This Father's Day, take Dad to the Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance to witness firsthand the beauty and history of these special craft. Event details and tickets are available at www.laketahoeconcours.com, or by calling the show office at (530) 581-4700. Show hours are Saturday, June 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, June 21, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a VIP Preview Day on Friday, June 19, from noon to 4 p.m.
