Spring thrills

As we get into mid-March, the traditional Tahoe weather patterns of spring are kicking in -- warm sunny days and freezing nights. Meaning that legendary California corn snow is going to start welcoming skiers and riders any day now (unless of course we get another dose of winter with a big storm).

Either way, it's a great time to get up to Lake Tahoe and get in some spring thrills.

And if skiing or riding is not your thing, the warner weather makes all sorts of other activities more fun as well: snowshoeing, cross country skiing, shopping, snowmobiling... It's all good.

See you in Tahoe,

--The Powderhound

Ski Resort Report:
Donner Ski Ranch

With 505 acres and a maximum 721-foot vertical drop, it's unlikely you'll get lost at the Ranch, but it is likely that powderhounds will find fresh tracks well after a storm cycle. The mountain breaks down to 25 percent beginner terrain, 50 percent intermediate, and 25 percent advanced. Beginner to intermediate freestylers will also enjoy the small terrain park and/or the half-pipe on the north-facing backside complete with a new, inclined 57-foot log to slide.
