And once you sign up, you can invite friends and family to compete against you. After you register and log in, just click on “My Private Groups,” which will appear in the upper-left hand corner of the page. After that page loads, click on “Create a Private Group” and follow the instructions — a great way to compete in an online pool with friends, family or coworkers.
Selection Sunday is coming up on March 15, so register today to be ready to make your picks before the tournament starts on Thursday, March 19.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What’s the difference between the Pick By Round contest and the Pick Upfront contest?
A: For the Pick By Round contest, players pick the winner for each game up to 20 minutes before it is scheduled to start. If you don't pick in time the computer will select the most-picked team for you. So, instead of predicting the entire tournament before it happens you get to pick the winner of each game as it goes along. For the Pick Upfront contest, players pick who they think will win each game in the bracket before the tournament starts, just like a traditional tournament bracket.
Q: What’s the difference between local prizes and national prizes?
A: Local prizes are only available to players in the Alpine Meadows Spring Madness Tournament Challenge game, hosted by the Sierra Sun. National prizes are available to all players in the national UPickEm bracket contests, of which the Alpine Meadows Spring Madness Tournament Challenge is a part.
Q: The tournament hasn’t started yet. Can I register now?
A: Yes. You can register for both contests right now. That way you’ll be ready to make your picks when the NCAA tournament field is named on selection Sunday, March 15, 2009. Tournament games start on Thursday, March 19, and run through April 6, so be sure to log back in and make your picks before then.
