When the world’s top freeriders descend on Squaw Valley USA for the Nissan Tram Face – Squaw Valley, from Feb. 27 to March 5, 2009, the valley will erupt with street parties, live music and a week of celebrations not to be missed... and of course, world-class freeriding action on a never-before-opened-for-competition venue: the legendary Tram Face at Squaw Valley USA.

Located on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, Squaw became world-famous in 1960 as host to the VIII Winter Olympics. With some of the most sought-after lift accessible terrain in the world, much of which is in plain view from a chairlift, Squaw has garnered the nickname “Squallywood” in reference to the many extreme showmen-type that call the mountain home.

In Squaw Valley’s 59 years of operation, the steep rock face below Tower 1 of the Cable Car (known as the “Tram Face”) has remained strictly off-limits. Its steep and seemingly un-skiable pitch, permanent closure, and tantalizing location in perfect view from Squaw Valley’s Village and base area, have made it a coveted descent among the freeride set. History will be made this year when the world’s best get a chance to take a crack at it during the Nissan Tram Face – Squaw Valley USA.
