Snow Tubing: Family-friendly activity offers thrill

If there’s ever a reason to giggle with glee and smile widely with childish abandon it is while sitting or lying on top of a plastic snow tube, sliding and spinning recklessly toward the bottom of its slippery-slick course.
It’s the perfect opportunity to feel young, no matter how old you are. No matter how out of shape you feel. There is little skill - none necessary - involved in the activity and minimal physical effort. That doesn’t mean your youngster won’t burn off the 10-pound sack of sugar he or she has managed to sneak in throughout the day. No, it’s likely that after every whoosh of excitement on the effortless and fun downhill ride, junior runs at a full sprint toward the magic carpet to do it all over again, “one more time.”
This family-friendly activity, that literally offers a rush for pretty much anyone, is also fairly weather independent as well. Once the courses open at local resorts, they stay good whether conditions are powder, corn, bulletproof, crud, death cookie - as long as the resorts are open for business.

Age Limit: Must be taller than 42 inches for a big tube, mini tubes available for those under 42 inches.
How long is the course: three to five lanes, straight drops
Cost: $20 for two hours on weekdays, $25 for two hours weekends
