Finally, more snow!

The Powderhound had been jonesing for some new snow for weeks, and Mother Nature has delivered the goods. The high-pressure system that had been parked over Northern California finally moved on out, allowing a series of moisture-laden storms to sweep across the region.

The result: Ski resorts have had to call back their avalanche safety crews and the plows have been moving. Meaning it's a great time for fellow snow lovers to get up to Tahoe and play in the white stuff. And with the Super Bowl coming up this weekend, take a look at our list of spots to watch the big game and plan on staying all weekend.

See you in Tahoe,

--The Powderhound

What could be better than a day on the slopes or in the backcountry, followed by an afternoon of beer drinking and nacho cheese? All of that plus the biggest football game of the year!

Rock climbers rejoice!

Incline Village athletic club High Altitude Fitness threw a two-night grand opening bash last week for its new climbing gym. After two years of hard work on the addition of the 32-foot high climbing wall, gym owner Jason Burd pulled out all the stops for the momentous occasion hosting a climbing competition, a slideshow by renowned hard man climber John Bachar and a presentation by legendary climber Lynn Hill.
