Check out the Lake Tahoe Adventure Slideshow series every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Bar One, inside the Olympic House at Squaw Valley USA. Attendance to any one particular slideshow can be between 150-300 people per event. There always seems to be new faces every time, from the extreme types to the arm chair travelers. Be sure to get there early if you want a seat, this place gets packed with good people gathered together for the purpose of being entertained, informed and inspired.

Dave Nettle - Global mountaineering. Join Tahoe local Dave Nettle for an evening of mountaineering and rock climbing adventures. Beginning in Russia with an ascent of Mount Elbrus at the height of the recent Georgian conflict and continuing on to Switzerland’s iconic Matterhorn and the spectacular granite face of the Dru near Chamonix, Nettle proves that despite the shrinking US dollar, his “European Vacation” is full value and packed with a sense of humor, travel and memorable ascents. This free show starts at 7 p.m. sharp at Bar One in the Olympic Plaza at Squaw Valley.

Kevin Quinn Heli - Adventures in Alaska. Get ready for an evening of big country, big drops, big exposure, big turns and big fun as Points North owner and operator Kevin Quinn unleashes some of his best footage of heli-access skiing in the great north. Combined with stories from his many seasons of big mountain exploration, these images will get you pumped for powder and lots of vertical.

Bean Bowers - Alpine Climbing. From the snowy mountains of Alaska to the granite spires of Patagonia, Bean’s list of adventures and ascents is impressive and he has taken his camera along to capture his experiences of alpine climbing in some of the world’s most spectacular places. Beans larger- than life character and down-to-earth story telling will make this a fun evening.

Andy Selters - Fall mountain: A Karakoram Summer. In the summer of 2008, Bishop local Andy Selters accompanied a small team to Pakistan to climb and ski Broad Peak and K2. Andy photographed climbing partner Dave Watson skiing from as high as 25,000 feet on Broad Peak. When a series of devastating storms and avalanches hit K2, their team was there to help. Andy’s show is presented on behalf of the Sierra Nevada chapter of the American Alpine Club.

Kp Garre and Ingrid Backstrom - Skiing in Pakistan. Nestled in Northern Pakistan lie some of the most dramatic and tallest mountains in the world. Unfortunately, political strife has kept many away from this beautiful area. While trying to ski an 8,000 meter peak, Kip and Ingrid discovered the amazing and friendly Balti culture and learned that skiing in these mountains can be a real challenge.

Alex Alexiades - Climbing in Bolivia. Alex is a recipient of the prestigious McNeill-Nott Award in 2008 for exploration and proposed new routes in the Cordillera Apolobamba on the border of Bolivia and Peru. His show will highlight his team’s travels and climbing expedition into this remote and strikingly beautiful region and the first ascents they accomplished.

Ryan Salm - Indi(a)gestion: Wanderings through Tribal India. Headhunters, opium dens, sacrifices and the stunning color of India are just a few of the encounters experienced during Salm’s journey through India. Ryan is an accomplished local photographer and entertaining storyteller who loves to immerse himself in unique cultures from far corners of the world and return with adventures and images to share.

Sam Skrocke-Cycling across the Western Hemisphere. This presentation will be about life on the road during Sam’s rigorous year-long journey to climb the highest peak on each of the American continents, the ups and downs of cycling the 16,000-mile Pan-American Highway that would separate him from each peak, and the wild spectrum of geography he experienced throughout.

Andrew Pinkham - Wilderness Canoeing in Canada’s Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Truckee local and Sugar Bowl Ski Patroller Andrew Pinkham shares tales of high adventure in the far north. In 2006, Andrew and his wife Gretchen Brugman spent 40 days paddling 600 miles from the headwaters of the Thelon River to its terminus near the Arctic Circle. Come hear about battling the elements of the barren lands, witnessing the migration of the caribou herd and enjoying the freedom and beauty of wilderness canoeing.

Dave Nettle - Climbing in Yosemite Valley. For the past three decades the vertical granite walls of Yosemite have shaped his life as a rock climber. This show will highlight some of his humour and epic adventures on the big walls of El Capitan, Half Dome, Washington’s Column and more, with images dug up from his “vault” of classic pictures from the 70s, 80s, 90s and up to present-day ascents.
