Special New Year's Eve Dinners: Where will you have your last meal of the year?

Dragonfly and other Lake Tahoe restaurants are offering special New Year's Eve dinners.
Keep this in mind when scheduling your New Year’s Eve plans: This will be your last chance to splurge on dinner before your “must lose weight” New Year’s resolutions kick in on Jan. 1. You have two choices: Jumpstart the resolutions by skipping dinner altogether (probably not a good move if you plan on doing any NYE imbibing). Or you could go big, one last time for 2008.

Conrads at the Tahoe Biltmore
The Where: Conrad’s, #5 Highway 28, Crystal Bay, Nev.
What’s for dinner: First Course — New Zealand Rockefeller with green lip mussels prepared classic Rockefeller style;
Second Course — Citrus lobster bisque with roasted corn and cilantro garnished by crispy pancetta or Baby arugula and grilled Brussels sprouts with red grapes, apple and Feta cheese served with raspberry balsamic vinaigrette;
Entrées — Filet Oscar grilled filet mignon topped with Dungeness crab, asparagus and sauce béarnaise served with roasted garlic, mashed potatoes and vegetable medley or Mocha rubbed halibut served with a sweet chili and honey glazeaccompanied by herb risotto and vegetable medley;
Dessert — triple mouse parfait of strawberry, ginger, dark chocolate, almond vanilla bean
The Cost: $45 per person

Dragonfly in Truckee
Make reservations now to ring in the New Year at downtown Truckee’s premier hot spot, Dragonfly Restaurant and Sushi Bar. The price has dropped from previous years to an affordable $60 per person for the special New Year’s dinner, which offers choices among four delectable courses prepared by chef and owner Billy McCullough.
If you’re torn between staying home or going out, consider celebrating the New Year at Dragonfly which offers an upbeat yet intimate atmosphere.
Dragonfly’s Sushi Bar will also be open for regular business on New Year’s Eve, however reservations are recommended. To secure your spot at the sushi bar on New Year’s Eve or to partake in the special New Year’s meal in the dining room, call Dragonfly, located at 10118 Donner Pass Road in Truckee, at (530) 587-0557.

What’s for dinner:
First Seating Menu — Appetizer: Butter poached prawns with golden caviar & Champagne cream sauce; Salad: Belgium endive salad with Maytag bleu cheese dressing, prosciutto crisps & caramelized walnuts.
Entrées — Choice of one (all entrees come with seasonal veggies & garlic mashed potatoes):
Certified Angus Filet Mignon with porcini pepper rub & truffle demi glace, served with garlic mashed potatoes and two seasonal fresh vegetables or steamed Australian lobster tail with saffron infused Chardonnay cream sauce or slow roasted half Peking duck with wild huckleberry honey reduction.
Dessert — Choice of one & served with a glass of Korbel Champagne: Tiramisu or vanilla bean ice cream with fresh berries and Gran Marnier.
