You be the judge of the Tahoe.com Fall Photo Contest
The Lake Tahoe area is pretty darn photogenic. Rather obvious, I admit; but the point was driven home by the number and quality of submissions we received in our Fall Photo Contest this year -- 389 photos to be exact. Now the hard part begins... voting.
Tahoe.com editors have narrowed the field down to our favorite 24 photos of the bunch. And now we want you, our readers, to sign on to Tahoe.com and vote for your favorite(s) by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28.
See Tahoe.com/FallPhotoContest for all the details.
"Around Tahoe" enhances your drive around Lake Tahoe
The voice of Lake Tahoe has become louder. Storytelling songwriter Darin Talbot narrates and sings tales of his home and his passion on "Around Tahoe," a historical guide and double CD.
"Around Tahoe" is a labor of love for Talbot. He intended for motorists to play the CDs as they circle the lake. They include 19 stories about Tahoe, which educate visitors and tell tales that not even lifelong locals have heard, pointing out points of interest -- or "Cool Spots" -- places to eat, drink, walk dogs or sight-see.

Leeward Cinema's "My Own Two Feet" dumps mechanized travel in latest snowboard film
In the current crop of ski and snowboard films you hear a lot about "progression." Progressive tricks, progressive terrain, every movie tries to offer a glimpse of the future of skiing or snowboarding.
But with the threat of global warming, what is the future of snowy winter fun? For green-minded South Lake Tahoe-based production company Leeward Cinema, progression doesn't stop when their riders land a sick trick. In Leeward's new release, "My Own Two Feet," progression goes a step -- or actually thousands of steps -- beyond by introducing a new standard of energy use for the ski film industry: The film was shot in the Sierra wilderness using only human power for snow travel, the first such movie of its kind.

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is second Tahoe-area resort to open
Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe became the second Tahoe-area ski resort to opens its doors after the first storm of the season dumped up to 18 inches of powder on the resort about a week ago. Now open Thursday to Sunday, with $20 lift tickets, Mt. Rose is turning the Ponderosa chair and the Flying Jenny surface lift, and has terrain-park features up on its Show Off run.
The resort (and the entire basin) definitely needs more snow to open the rest of its terrain, but why not prepare for the good times with our ski resort review.
