Event organizer Emilio Vaca took the time to answer a few questions about the 3rd Annual Mexican Independence Street Fair Celebration:

What can people expect from the street fair celebration?
A family friendly Drug and Gang Free Event full of traditional Mexican food, information by non-profits, registration for voting and a kids zone

How have the first two celebrations been? What would you like to see this year?
The first year we had 1,500 people attend, last year we had 2,000 this year we want to see the same if not more. The past two years we had great community involvement and support and that is what we are seeing today as well.

What is the purpose of the celebration?
The purpose of the celebration is for one to celebrate the real Mexican Independence Day (its not Cinco de Mayo) but most importantly we wanted to create community economic sustainability for families in our communities. We know that come the snow families will face hard economic times so we created a way for families to sell food and keep all the profits.

How did this annual event get started?
It got started when we began to see that in the winter folks are in need for money so we began organizing to create the a system to generate funds and to help reduce the burden on local non-profits and to the county when it comes to the need of financial help.

How much do tickets cost?
The event is free to attend the vendors set the price for the food each vendor is different
