Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off

Rib-eating Contest
The rib-eating contest is a kickoff event for John Ascuaga’s Nugget Casino Resort 20th Annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off. The contest will feature St. Louis style ribs and a total of $5,000 in prizes. Joey Chestnut is the defending champ and current world record holder with 8.4 pounds of rib meat in 12 minutes.
Don’t miss the 3rd Annual World Rib Eating Competition to be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. on the Main Stage at the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off.
Photo contest
A photo contest is open to anyone over age 21 during this year’s Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off. Take a digital photo of what you think best represents the annual Rib Cook-off experience. Send it to www.nuggetribcookoff.com
Running of the pigs
In honor of our 20th year, get ready for the biggest road spectacle this side of Pamplona. See 20 pigs run down a specially designed race course on Victorian Avenue on Friday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. Plus, be on the look-out for an extra-special and timely additional race. It all happens in the U.S. Bank stage area on the west edge of the event.
Ribs, ribs and more ribs
All food booths will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. Food and concessions will be available during event hours only.
Kids area
There are plenty of activities for children of all ages. Tickets are $1 each, 12 for $10 (better deal) or 30 for $20 (best deal). Activities and rides include the Treasure of the Caribbean Obstacle Course, a four-way trampoline, Avalanche Mountain, a Carousel Bounce, an inflatable 30' colossal slide, the Paddle Boat Lagoon and a jumbo bounce house. Hours are Friday from 3 to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
