Full Moon Hikes
Everything changes after dark – the trails, the trees, and the lake. Take in inspiring views of the lake as the moon rises over the Lake Tahoe Basin. Expect casually paced hikes for all ages, while slowing down to enjoy the flora and fauna, current happenings in the natural world and nighttime senses.

Full Buck Moon hike at Mt. Rose. Hike less than 5 miles from the Mt. Rose Trailhead
from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 16
Full Corn Moon hike starting from Brockway Summit Trailhead. Hike 2-3 miles with hike leader Emily Williams from 7-9 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 15
Full Harvest Moon hike on Barker Pass. Walk less than 5 miles from the Barker Pass Trailhead with hike leader Emily Williams from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 15
Full Hunters Moon hike on Mt. Rose less than 5 miles from the Mt. Rose Trailhead. Meet at 5:45 p.m., hike until 7:45 p.m.

Guided Day Hikes
Mt. Rose Trail to Waterfall, Sunday, July 27
Hike towards Mt. Rose, stopping at a beautiful waterfall for lunch, and then continuing the loop back to the trailhead. Enjoy the wildflowers, learning them by name with plenty of photo opportunities. Total of 7 miles, bring your lunch! Please, only children over 10 years old and no dogs. Meet at Mt. Rose Trailhead @ 10 a.m.
Barker Pass to Tahoe City, Tuesday, July 29
Enjoy the wildflowers on this moderately difficult 11 ½ mile hike. The trail dips in and out of flowery meadows and swoops around craggy volcanic peaks. Space is limited to 8 hikers. Meet at Tahoe City Trailhead @ 7 a.m. to shuttle. Hedda Anya and Sue Henson will lead the hike.
Family hike: Mt. Rose Trail to Waterfall, Saturday, Aug. 2
Hike towards Mt. Rose, stopping at a beautiful waterfall for lunch, and then continuing the loop back to the trailhead. Total of 7 miles, bring your lunch! Only children above 7 years old please and dogs welcome! Meet at Mt. Rose Trailhead

Mt Rose to Martis Access Trail, Friday Aug. 8
Hike through thick forests and open meadows and across the feet of ancient volcanoes. Enjoy sun-splashed meadows and panoramic lake views. No children please, dogs are welcome. 18 miles, strenuous. Meet at Martis Peak Dirt Road entrance @ 8 a.m. to shuttle. Lily Egan will lead the hike.
Ophir Creek Trail, Davis Creek Park to Tahoe Meadows: Sunday Aug. 24
Ophir Creek climbs from Washoe Valley at Davis Creek Park to the Tahoe Rim Trail at Tahoe Meadows trailhead. The 3,600 foot elevation gain in 6.5 miles is not for the faint of heart, but provides a close-up view of the geology of Slide Mountain, learning about the Carson Range “plumbing system,” and a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Strenuous. Total of 13 miles. Meet at Tahoe Meadows Trailhead, south side @ 7 a.m. Will then carpool and drive to Davis Creek trailhead to start hike

Thursdays - finish the entire Tahoe Rim Trail in eight days
Attention Segment Hikers: What an amazing undertaking – eight hikes for a total of 165 miles and passing by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Sierra. If you have to miss a segment but would still like to complete your hiking goal this season, please call the TRTA office! Thursday’s will be offered as a makeup day as they fit into the hike leader’s schedule. Led by Sue Henson.
