The shores of Lake Tahoe have never seen a villain so gleefully wicked as King Richard III—until now. One of Shakespeare’s more revered plays, Richard III is brought to life during the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival’s 36th season running July 9 – Aug. 17 at Sand Harbor State Park in Incline Village, Nev.

Directed by the Festival’s artistic director Jan Powell and led on-stage by Ian Bedford playing Richard III, the performance combines action, sensuality, historic events, larger than life characters and humor into one fast-paced adventure.
The play follows the conniving and hunchbacked Richard III as he slaughters his way through family members and friends, allowing nothing to stand in the way of his bloody path to the throne. Set in the late 15th century and with the fate of England’s crown in jeopardy, Richard III is a domestic squabble par excellence with wrangling, mercurial twists of fate, astonishing seductions and splendidly selfish maneuverings.
Richard III is joined on the Festival’s playbill by audience favorite A Midsummer Night’s Dream rotating nightly Tuesday through Sunday. On Monday nights the new original musical CAMBIO brings the steamy nightclub scene of Havana to the Festival stage.
Tickets for the 2008 season are now available at www.LakeTahoeShakespeare.com with reduced handling fees for all online purchases, or by calling 888-32-SHOWS (888-327-4697).
