Saturday, July 19 the Tahoe Rim Trail Association is hosting Lake Tahoe’s annual Trail Fest event, celebrating all of the beautiful trails of Tahoe.

The event will be at the heart of Tahoe City at Commons Beach, and will start at 9 a.m. with guided hikes, cycles and paddles and will continue to 4 p.m. with live music by The Saddle Tramps, beer tasting and an outdoor barbecue.

Throughout the day there will be a an outdoor equipment expo with more than 20 vendors featuring merchandise such as Mountain Hardware, Jet Boil, Salomon, MSR, Chaco, Lowe Alpine and many more. Most outdoor vendors will offer demonstrations and free demo rentals of their products. Options include kid carrier backpacks from Sherpani, Salomon XT Wings shoes for trail runners to try, Deuter will have day packs and demonstrations on water purification, backcountry stove use, and even tasters of dehydrated food.

Other local organizations and businesses will be at the event tabling and handing out information, and taking part in the festivities. Trail Fest is promoting and celebrating the hundreds of miles of hiking, cycling and paddling trails in and around Tahoe City, and providing a chance for folks to get outdoors and have fun.

Check out the list of free guided programs, participants should sign up early as space will most definitely fill up. Alpenglow Sports will also be sponsoring a 7-mile trail run from Tahoe City through Page Meadows; lead by one of the store's athletes. Trail Fest will conclude with a raffle that will include great prizes such as tents, stoves, and other outdoor gear. Paddleboarding Demos
Tahoe Paddleboards will be offering free 15 minute demo’s from 10-12pm at Common’s Beach. To sign up early, visit or call Alpenglow Sports in Tahoe City at (530) 583-6917. The development of standup paddling has given us a new look at using our lakes as resources for surfing, distance paddling and fitness training, providing a vehicle to experience new places. Bring your suit and try paddleboarding!

The Backcountry Bike Shop’s Burton Creek Mountain Bike Tour:
Enjoy the rolling cross-country biking at Burton Creek State Park. This is a moderately challenging ride through miles of single tracked pine and high sierra meadows. Mountain bike experience is required; you must have your own helmet and bike. Demo rentals will be available. This is a 2 hour ride. Olympic Bike Shop Page Meadows Mountain Bike Tour:
Join seasoned riders from Olympic Bike Shop for a challenging ride with big rewards. Be ready for a climb with lake views and the ending location at beautiful Page Meadows. This tour is for experienced mountain bikers, you must also have your own helmet and bike. Demo rentals are available. To sign up, please call or visit Olympic Bike Shop at (530) 581-2500.

Alpenglow Sports 7-mile Trail Run:
