Renee Trudeau has made the 3,000+ mile trip from her former home in Miami Beach to Truckee to join the Golf Academy at Old Greenwood, as its lead teaching instructor. It’s a homecoming for the Truckee native, who has made a name for herself in the professional golf industry since her days as a Nevada 3A state golf title holder a decade ago.
As the lead teaching instructor at the Golf Academy at Old Greenwood, Trudeau will combine her teaching experience with her passion for fitness and nutrition, to help golfers transform their game, mind, body and soul. Specifically, Trudeau will assist the Golf Academy’s director, Keith Lyford, in conducting golf schools, group lessons, private instruction and a weekly ladies golf clinic.
“I’ve taught golfers from five- to 90-years-old and love helping people enjoy the game to its fullest,” said Trudeau.
Trudeau earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Barry University in Florida, where she was captain of the university’s women’s golf team, and was awarded the MVP and Rookie of the Year awards. In 2003, she earned three, top-10 finishes in NCAA Division II Women’s Golf.
She is a member of the LPGA and National Strength and Conditioning Association. She has earned a fitness nutritionist certification from the National Endurance Sports Trainers Association.
Prior to joining Old Greenwood, Trudeau was assistant golf professional at La Gorce Country Club in Miami Beach, as well as head women’s golf coach at Ransom Everglades High School in Coral Gables. While attending Tahoe Truckee High School, Trudeau worked at the Tahoe Donner Golf Course where she started the Tahoe Donner Junior Golf Club. She was a four-year letter-winner in golf and won the Nevada 3A state individual title twice. She will bring those strong golf skills to her students at Old Greenwood.
Old Greenwood is a resort recreational community on more 900 acres crowned by an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. The course has been ranked by national golf magazines and is as among the top public courses in America.
The Golf Academy at Old Greenwood offers small-group clinics, personalized instruction and golf schools. The Academy is Northern California’s only fully dedicated golf school. Within the 15-acre training complex sits an indoor/outdoor hitting bay, as well as a 1,500 sq. ft. learning center, which is equipped with flat-screen TVs, lockers, club storage, a fully-staffed reception area and high-speed internet access. Its outdoor classroom consists of a two large all-grass tees, several target greens with putting, chipping and sand play, and a five-acre short game facility.
