Angel Kiss Foundation is hosting its 4th Annual Whitewater Raft and Music Festival on June 21 at Reno’s Wingfield Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Festival is the single largest fundraiser for the nonprofit organization which supports families in northern Nevada and the eastern Sierras who have children with cancer.
Participants of the Whitewater Raft race can expect to participate in some of the best whitewater rafting available in northern Nevada. There are seven different rafting categories for all levels of rafters.
In addition to the raft race, the day's events include six local bands playing a variety of music genres. Bands include Kate Cotter, Smokin Joe Banana, Jason King Band, Bad Neighbors, Whiskey Haulers and Drinking with Clowns. There will be food and beverages by Vista Grille and Great Basin Brewery. Other activities include a special "Garden of Hope" offering unique flowers, created by local artists and children, a raffle for gift packages by local merchants, sponsor booths and other family fun.
The 2007 Whitewater Raft and Music Festival raised more than $100,000 for local families that have children with cancer and with this year’s snowfall, the event is expected to draw even bigger crowds.
Major sponsors of the 2008 event include Vista Grille, Great Basin Brewery, Blind Dog Coffee Roasters, Tyco Electronics, Northern Nevada Toyota Dealers, Nevada Mining Association and Swire Coke among others.
Founded in 1999, Angel Kiss Foundation is dedicated to helping all local families of children with cancer, regardless of income, by providing immediate assistance and support for any expense or need related to treatment. Assistance can be provided to families immediately, not weeks or months.
For more information on Angel Kiss Foundation, the upcoming Whitewater Raft and Music Festival or to sign up for this event please contact Julie Tholl DeJan, executive director of Angel Kiss Foundation, at 775-323-7721 or visit www.angelkissfoundation.org.
