What are hike leaders?
The Hike Leader Program teaches and trains volunteers how to lead guided hikes on the TRT. Hike leaders promote trail etiquette, Leave No Trace ethics, and responsible use of the TRT. Hike leaders are able to lead groups on their favorite sections or segments of the trail, on the days that work best for them. The TRTA will publicize and promote the hikes on the website and in local media.
What are trail ambassadors?
The Ambassador Program promotes safe, responsible and enjoyable use of the TRT system. Ambassadors inform, assist and educate hikers, bikers, and equestrians; maintain and encourage proper trail etiquette; record trail use statistics; provide or call for mechanical assistance, if needed; perform some trail maintenance, help in emergency situations, and have a good time on the TRT!
Hike Leader and Trail Ambassador Training will be held on Saturday May 31 and Sunday June 1 for those in need of CPR and First Aid Certification, in Incline Village at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-profit center located at 948 Incline Way. The cost for the training is $20 which will include lunch and CPR and First Aid Certification through the American Red Cross. For more information and to sign up for the training contact Allison Becker at 775-298-0238 or email allisonb@tahoerimtrail.org.
