Several large murals of Sand Harbor and Emerald Bay will highlight Melinda Plumbridge's solo exhibit of 'Cool Water Running' through June 2, 2008 at North Tahoe Arts.
From May 2 through June 2, North Tahoe Arts is honored to present Melinda Plumbridge in her solo exhibition, "Cool Water Running" in the Main Gallery.
Melinda has been painting for over 30 years and is a veteran of dozens or solo and group shows and has been represented by some of the region's top galleries, one of which just sold three of her paintings to the Governor of Nevada. While still in high school Plumbridge's first landscape painting was shown at a student exhibit at the Secretary of State's Office in Sacramento and won "Best of Show.
As her title suggests, water plays an important role in her life and her painting. She writes, "It's wonderful living in a place where there is inspiration everywhere you look. The Sierras are such a great place to live when you love water. Water is always a key part of the composition of my work. I try to capture its movement and now sometimes it's a perfect mirror of the world above and other times it's transparent to the world beneath the surface." For this exhibit Melinda is planning several large murals of Sand Harbor and Emerald Bay.
Melinda Plumbridge offers acrylic painting, limited edition prints, and giclees of popular High Sierra landscapes. Vineyards, rivers, streams, small alpine lakes and of course, Lake Tahoe, are the subjects of her vivid landscape paintings. Her acrylic paintings have been purchased by many avid art collectors of landscape paintings. The demand has been so strong that her paintings were selling before they were ever completed. She loves hiking and camping with her husband and two young sons, seeking the inspiration of her next landscape.
Cool Water Running will continue upstairs in the Corison Gallery throughout the month of June. For more information please call 530-581-ARTS or visit www.northtahoearts.com
