While much of the East Shore is off limits to the general public, some of Lake Tahoe's most private and beautiful coves can be found along Highway 28 just outside of Incline Village. Parking is available in some lots, and in some roadside spots, along Hwy 28 between Hwy 50 and Sand Harbor. Once parked, there are steep, sandy hikes to mostly-boulder beaches. Generally, there are no facilities, so bring trash bags to haul out what you haul in. Do not park where no parking signs exist - you will be towed immediately.

Sand Harbor -- (Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park) Nevada Division of State Parks. Picnic facilities, restrooms, a huge sand beach and boulders for climbing. Parking $6 per car, boat launching (at a separate entrance) is also $8, and anchoring in the harbor is $6. Annual day use/boating permits are available, $75.
