Well, it's been a glorious winter, don't you think?

It's not over just yet, but it is time for the Hound to pack it up and head for colder climes. I just wanted to say thank you to all my fellow hounds who came out to see us at the tahoe.com ski days; it was great meeting all of you! Next year, we'll be at even more resorts and have more goodies to hand out, so look for the schedule when the Powderhound Report comes back to your mailbox in November.

Until then, keep skiing until the last snow melts, and then check out my buddy, the Mountain Mutt. He'll take you through the summer with great tips about hiking, biking, kayaking, and much more ... plus he'll have some cool contests, as well. If you're not on the mailing list,
sign up here.

Thanks for a rockin' winter! See you next season!

Half pipes and terrain parks -- behind the scenes

by Wendy Lautner, tahoe.com

As winter's storms become few and far between, it's a good time of year to try riding or skiing in the terrain park or half pipe. This week, we talked with Dave Eidson, Boreal's lead park supervisor, to find out a little bit more about what goes into creating a great terrain park so you can ride safe and have fun.

Not all parks are equal As lead park supervisor, Eidson spends his time managing all of Boreal's four parks. At almost every resort there will be parks for different ability levels, but features are not necessarily designated by difficulty. Always take a practice run without hitting any jumps or features to make sure you're familiar with the landings, takeoffs and size of the features. At Boreal, this is just an example of what you'll find.

And the Grand Prize Winner is .... Lucy!!

Chris' 10-year-old Basset Hound had never even seen the snow until moving to Reno this year. All that fresh powder seemed to transform her into a young pup for the day! Chris is our grand prize winner of the $100 Petco gift certificate. After Lucy won in our Dec. 12 weekly contest, we found out that Lucy had recently passed away. So, a snow angel she truly is.

Check out all this year's great Powderhounds ... they were an amazing group! Thanks to everyone who entered.

Ladies' Day at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe

Mt. Rose was a good place to be or at least pretend to be a lady on March 15, as Mt. Rose held its annual Bud Light Ladies' Day. The deals were so hot that men even dressed in drag in order to get the $10 Ladies' Day ticket. Check out the multimedia slideshow to see the day's best-dressed drag queens, the Drag Race and to hear a word from the winners of the best-dressed competition. Warning, the slideshow commentary is PG-13!
