Do the Tahoe Rim Trail this summer with the TRTA. This summer, there will be two groups; one which meets Friday and the other which meets Saturday. This program will allow you to finish the entire Tahoe Rim Trail in an eight-week program. In order to do the program, the participant has to be dedicated for the majority of the hikes.
The fee for the program is $165 and includes a Trail Partner Membership to TRTA, and a 165 certificate upon completion, 165 hat, shirt, pin and your name among the other TRTA legends. There is a shuttle service for the program, which picks up participants from the ending trailhead, and shuttles them to the starting trailhead.
**Please note this program is an intensive hiking program; and not for beginning hikers. Trail segment hikes are done in one day, with the exception of Barker Pass to Echo Lakes. Participants should be in good health and hiking shape. Also some segments & dates may change due to snow melt. To sign up and to find out the segment hiking dates call (775) 298-0012 or email info@tahoerimtrail.org
Get certified with NOLS & Wilderness Medicine Institute’s Wilderness First Aid Course, May 3 & 4
The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is hosting Wilderness First Aid with NOLS the National Outdoor Leadership School and Wilderness Medicine Institute May 3 & 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Parasol building in Incline Village, where the TRTA office is located.
This is a hands-on, two-day course which covers a wide range of wilderness medicine topics for people who travel in the outdoors. Whether spending time in the backcountry is your passion or your profession, you should never have to ask, "What do I do now?" On this course, you'll learn how to prepare for the unexpected.
WMI's curriculum is unique and includes many advanced topics that other programs leave out such as dislocation reduction, focused spinal assessment and epinephrine administration. In just two days, you'll have the knowledge, skills and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations. This course is ideal for trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts, TRTA volunteers and members, and individuals in remote locations. WMI's course is pre-approved by such organizations as the American Camping Association, the United States Forest Service, and other governmental agencies. This course does not include CPR.
The cost for the Wilderness First Aid is $150 dollars. The tuition fee covers textbooks, syllabus, and equipment and certification cards. For more information or to sign up for this course please contact 775-298-0012 or info@tahoerimtrail.org
