Interactive art walk takes place in Truckee, Sept. 10
Trails & Vistas III, "Origins and Elements" incorporates dance, music, art
Tahoe.com
Trails & Vistas is a unique art event examining the work of California artists actually working in the landscape. Their work not only addresses the social and environmental issues of the landscape, but also is situated in and influenced by that very landscape. The performance piece, Trails & Vistas, offers the Truckee and North Lake Tahoe community and visitors an original art production that involves dance, music, and installation art on a hike through the beautiful landscape of the Sierra. Trails & Vistas is a collaboration between three local non-profit organizations: Truckee Donner Land Trust, InnerRhythms Dance Theatre, and Arts For the Schools.
The creative director, Nancy Lopez, and the choreographer, Elizabeth Archer, work with other artists to create an interactive art walk that combines dance, music, and installation art on a hike through the beautiful landscape of the Sierra. More than 20 talented performers and artists will collaborate to present an unforgettable experience of celebrating the environment through the arts.
Trails & Vistas is especially honored this year to be working with guest artist Chief Red Hawk of Virginia. He will present Native flute songs and address the four elements of the earth. Chief Red Hawk was a featured performer for the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies in Utah and travels the world to speak of diversity and play his award winning Native flute music.
The Land Trust’s goal for the Trails & Vistas event is to introduce the community in a new and dramatic way to the stunning open spaces and wildlands we work to protect. We are excited about the opportunity to partner with local artists to create a unique and memorable experience for our community.
