Northstar Tees Off Its Golf Season With The Golf Course Grand Opening!
Tahoe.com
Northstar’s golf course grand opening kicks off the resort ’s summer season on May 14, 2004, when golfers are in for a real surprise,
as Northstar switched its front nine with its back nine to add many new benefits and challenges to the game.
Players will now begin on the more challenging half of the course, where shot making is a premium. The new front nine requires tight, precise play with tree-lined, narrow fairways and small greens. On the back nine, players can relax and enjoy well-lit and wide-open, links-style play with frequent bunkers, three ponds and scenic views unique to Northstar’s location in the Sierra Nevada.
Northstar’s scenic course provides a number of challenges in both the valley and the woods. The switching of the nines will not change the unique course design but rather improve the way the game is played. These changes will increase the speed and flow of the course as well as provide optimum light and weather conditions for a great day of golf.
Jeff Richter, Northstar’s new PGA Golf Pro says, “Switching the nines has two great advantages. First it helps to avoid frost delays that plague the Sierra/Lake Tahoe golf courses throughout the season. Second it allows afternoon golfers, who may only have time for nine holes, to come out and start on one of the most memorable nines in the area.”
For golf aficionados, Northstar has a variety of season pass options
available this summer. Full season passes are available with no play restrictions from $1,199 for adults to $619 for juniors. The Value Pass prices range from $729 for adults to $379 for juniors. Value season passes are valid from opening day to June 17 and again from September 20 to closing. For those who prefer a later game of golf, P.M. passes are available for $529 for adults and $279 for juniors. Season passes can be purchased now at www.NorthstarAtTahoe.com.
Green fees for the 2004 season range from $49 (twilight walking) to $75-$105 for 18-hole green fees that include a shared cart and a small bucket of balls (excluding value season). Golfers who book a tee time after 1 p.m., Sunday – Thursday, will enjoy Northstar’s 18-holes for just $75. Early birds can play before 9 a.m. on the back nine for $49, including a shared cart. Spring season discounted rates are in effect now through June 17.
Golfers can always improve their game, and those interested in brushing up on their skills can take advantage of Northstar’s golf programs for children and adults. Private and group lessons are available daily and prices are based on the length and number of students in the lesson. Call (530) 562-2490 for lesson information and reservations.
Northstar-at-Tahoe is located off Highway 267, just six miles from the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. For more information on Northstar’s golf course or to schedule a tee time, please call (530) 562-2490, or visit www.NorthstarAtTahoe.com.
