Tom Scholz’ band Boston embarks on a summer tour this June, following the successful release of their latest album, “Life, Love & Hope.” Always a huge crowd pleaser with their high-energy stage show, out-of-this-world sound, and remarkable musicianship and singing, BOSTON will feature the personnel and music from their highly acclaimed 2012 tour with some exciting additions. The band prides itself on performing a totally live show without the use of prerecorded music or technical enhancements, delivering the exceptional sound that is faithful to their studio recordings.
Their first album, the 1976 self-titled Boston, quickly became one of the top albums in the country, eventually selling 16 million copies in the U.S alone. It still ranks among the highest selling debut LPs of all time. The memorable single, “More Than A Feeling,” became an instant classic, peaking at number five on the Top 40 charts. The album also contained the hit singles, “Let Me Take You Home Tonight” and “Smokin’.” Two years later they repeated their success with the release of Don’t Look Back, which included the hit songs, “Used to Bad News,” “Party” and “A Man I’ll Never Be.”
The Doobie Brothers 44 years of rock has produced an incredible string of hit songs. Upon release of their second album, Toulouse Street, in 1972, the hit single, “Listen to The Music” propelled the band into rock ‘n’ roll stardom. The album also produced the hits, “Jesus Is Just Alright” and “Rockin’ Down the Highway.”
In the following three years, the red-hot band cut four more LPs, which produced a string of hits including: “China Grove,” “Long Train Running,” “Black Water,” “You Just Can’t Stop It,” “Music Man,” “Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me),” “I Cheat the Hangman,” “Takin’ It To The Streets” and “It Keeps You Running.”
As durable as American steel, Northern California’s four-time Grammy winning Doobie Brothers sound has become part of America’s musical firmament, sampled on dance records, reinterpreted on American Idol, and a fixture on radio formats from top 40 to classic rock. They continue to write and record new material, tour the world, boasting one of the most loyal fan bases in music.
