On the Hill: Hike to Echo Peak
  • On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different Lake Tahoe adventure every day.

Today’s activity: Hike to Echo Peak.

About the hike: We’ve got a new contributor to the group, a new Michelle, and she and her pup Lucky take us to Echo Peak, via Echo Lakes. The hike is moderate to strenuous with some steep climbs, but the final climb up to that peak is well worth it as you’ll see Angora Lakes, Fallen Leaf Lake, Lake Tahoe and more. This is a great all-day hike, so grab a sandwich or some snacks and get ready to have the perfect Desolation Wilderness experience.

Today’s weather: We’re having a hard time getting away from the Yosemite Fire smoke up at the lake, and today we’re under a dense smoke advisory. Too bad, as the temps peak at 77 degrees and winds are light to moderate. — National Weather Service
