On the Hill: Fishing the American River
  • On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different Lake Tahoe adventure every day.

Today’s activity: On the Hill: Fishing the American River.

About the hike: Michelle heads to the South Fork of the American River, just about 30 minutes outside Lake Tahoe, for a little angling. The water was perfect for both fly fishing and reel casting, and for those without a pole, there are plenty of hiking and rock-hopping opportunities. With very little usage, this area is a great way to get some peace and quiet without having to drive too far.

Today’s weather: No rain in the forecast today! We’ve broken out of that pattern, unfortunately there’s still a lot of smoke in the air, but temps are peaking at 79 today so it’s still a beautiful day for an adventure. — National Weather Service
