On the Hill: Hike to Eagle Lake
  • On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different Lake Tahoe adventure every day.

Today’s activity: Hike to Eagle Lake.

About the hike: Eagle Lake is a great Tahoe hike for beginner-intermediate hikers. It’s just 2 miles round trip so it makes a good hike anytime of day, but it is popular so if you want to avoid crowds get out early. The lake offers a sweet alpine respite or the chance to cast a line, your choice. Head out to the trailhead on Hwy 89 out of Emerald Bay to get to this awesome hike. Parking is $5 but you can park on the road for free if there are available spots.

Today’s weather: We’re in the balmy summertime up at the lake, with temps in the mid 70s, low winds and for the West, some decent humidity. — National Weather Service
