On the Hill: Hike to Granite Lake
  • On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different Lake Tahoe adventure every day.

Today’s activity: Hike to Granite Lake.

About the hike: Another adventure with Lou, Vada the Wonder Mutt and family as On the Hill heads up to Granite Lake in South Shore. Granite Lake is at about 7500 ft elevation and while it’s less than a mile climb it is fairly strenuous. Park at Bayview Trailhead and head on up for great views of Emerald Bay on your way to the lake. Perfect for babies splashing minnows and dogs fetching sticks in the lake. Pretty much the perfect day is on tap, but don’t forget the bug spray on this hike.

Today’s weather: Still in that warm pattern, with today checking in at 83 and a chance at isolated thunderstorms. — National Weather Service
