Mountain Biking the Flume Trail
  • On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different Lake Tahoe adventure every day.

Today’s activity: Mountain biking the Flume Trail.

About the ride: The Flume Trail is perhaps one of the most photographed trails, with iconic views of Lake Tahoe as far as the eye can see. While perfectly suitable for hiking, to mountain bike the trail you should have a high tolerance for heights and steep slopes that go down, down, down. In other words, no beginners, please. Drew Hanley takes us for a short spin as he heads toward the North Shore from Spooner Summit. Grab your helmet and get ready for a wild ride. For more info on riding at the lake, plus rentals and bike shops, check out our guide.

Today’s weather: A toasty 91 degrees are on tap for the Lake today, with a 20 percent chance of rain, giving us a whopping 23 percent humidity. Hey, that’s big for this area. Pack your swimsuit for a dip after this epic ride. — National Weather Service
