On the Hill: Scramble up Cave Rock
  • On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different Lake Tahoe adventure every day.

Today’s activity: On the Hill: Scramble up Cave Rock.

Conditions: OK, technically it’s a hike, but with a short 5-minute easy hike to start and a climb up some scary looking rocks that aren’t really scary at all, Cave Rock is more of just a scramble. Located in South Shore, right near the entrance to the tunnel on Hwy 50, this quick and easy getaway has massive payoffs at the end. Park your car on Cave Rock Drive after a long day, and reward yourself with spectacular views.

Today’s weather: We’re living in the ’80s in the early part of the week, but temps will get heated later. Get out today and you’ll find some moderate winds to cool you off as you tackle this scramble. — National Weather Service
