On the Hill: Hiking Castle Rock
  • On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different Lake Tahoe adventure every day.

    Today’s activity: Hiking Castle Rock.

About the ride: Part gentle hike, part intermediate rock climb, the 2.5 mile trail to Castle Rock runs along part of the Tahoe Rim Trail and is well worth the adventure. Lou Friedman and his furry friend Vada take us up the trail to visit the spectacular sunset and views this hike offers. To find the trail, take Kingsbury Grade to Brodovitch Park and head up the road to the green gate trailhead.

Today’s weather: Nothing but perfect summer weather this week. Today peaks at 77 degrees with moderate winds at 15 mph. Rest of the week follows suit, with temps in the mid-to-high 70s. It doesn’t get better than this. — National Weather Service
