On the Hill: Kayaking Nevada Beach
  • On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different Lake Tahoe adventure every day.

    Today’s activity: Kayaking Nevada Beach

Why you want to do this:Nevada Beach is located at Elk Point Road near Round Hill, off Highway 50. It’s big and windy; just about .7 mile long and in some cases 300 yards wide. There’s some camping nearby, and it’s a favorite among kiteboarders. Dogs are welcome at the south end of the beach. There is a parking fee. Also, boat-in at south end, rest rooms, picnic facilities, BBQ and disabled-access walkways can be found at Nevada Beach.

Today’s weather: The temps are fine today, just under 70, but there’s a lake wind advisory for Lake Tahoe through Tuesday p.m. Make sure you check the forecast before hitting Lake Tahoe because the water conditions can change rapidly and become quickly dangerous, especially for small watercraft.— National Weather Service
