Rhalves’ Banzai Tour Returns to Tahoe
Has watching the Olympics got you fired up to hit the mountain? Bring your board or skis to Tahoe’s premier ski resorts and see the wildest winter ski and snowboard races live. The Rahlves’ Banzai Tour (RBT) kicks off Feb. 22-23 with the “Wall Banzai” at Kirkwood Mountain Resort, followed by the “KT-22 Banzai” at Squaw Valley. Low snow pack in January contributed to the postponement of the RBT, originally slated to start Feb.y 8-9, but winter storms have returned to Tahoe, setting up great racing conditions in back-to-back weekends from Feb. 22-23 through March 15-16.
The high-speed action of the Rahlves’ Banzai Tour will now be on consecutive weekends at these Lake Tahoe resorts:
• Kirkwood Mountain Resort February 22-23
• Squaw Valley March 1-2
• Alpine Meadows March 8-9
• Sugar Bowl Resort March 15-16
Four competitors each in Men Ski and Men Snowboard who earn their place by winning a tour stop (or being the next in line if there’s a repeat winner in one of the events) advance to compete at Sugar Bowl’s “Silver Belt Banzai” in the Super Finals for $5,000 in the Men Ski Super Final against Daron Rahlves and in a new 2014 RBT event, the Men Snowboard Super Final against Nate Holland, 7-time X-Games Champ and U.S. Olympic Snowboarder–also with a prize of $5,000.
