Summer officially kicks off in North Lake Tahoe Memorial Day Weekend with the 6th Annual Opening Day at the Lake. This four-day special event is Friday, May 25 to Monday, May 28, and is comprised of celebrations and festivities along the West Shore and the North Tahoe region.

“This is our official launch into the boating and summer season,” said Chief Marketing Officer Andy Chapman of the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association. “The first days of summer bring with them a buzz of excitement and we wanted to capture that. People are eager to get outside and enjoy themselves. Whether it’s on the water, on the beaches or taking part in other seasonal events, it’s a great time of year to explore North Lake Tahoe.”

Opening Day at the Lake events include deck opening celebrations at Sunnyside Resort (celebrating its 25th anniversary), West Shore Café & Inn, Chambers Landing Bar & Restaurant and Bridgetender (celebrating its 35th anniversary); Granlibakken Resort’s Contractors Home Improvement/Repair Fair; the opening of Meeks Bay Resort & Marina; openings and tours of historical Vikingsholm Castle, Sugar Pine Point Hellman-Ehrman Mansion, the Gatekeeper’s Museum and the Tahoe Maritime Museum with its new “Tahoe Twenties” exhibit; as well as the popular Mike Brown Seaplane Splash-In and BBQ at Obexer’s General Store.

What else to do this Memorial Day Weekend?

    A nice family hike
Lake Tahoe has some great hikes for families. Bring a camera and enjoy the fresh air, preferably after a nice big breakfast.

    Three days of golf
Lake Tahoe has many spectacular golf courses known for their beauty and challenge. We can’t guarantee that your ball will fly farther in the thin mountain air, but if you believe (as we do) that Lake Tahoe is a paradise, then golfing in this kingdom is surely heaven on earth.
