Truckee, Calif., (May 4, 2012) – Nestled in the beautiful North Tahoe Truckee region, Piping Rock Equestrian Center offers premier horseback riding facilities and amenities. This summer, Piping Rock’s equestrian camp will give children the opportunity to connect with horses and nature under the supervision of a CHA certified trainer. Give your children a comprehensive understanding of horses through an array of un-mounted activities, including grooming, hoof care and lunging. An optimal ratio of instructors to campers ensures plenty of individualized attention while on horseback. Whether novice or expert, there is a group suited to each camper’s level.
- Pony Camp is offered to six to eight-year-olds in the mornings from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. These classes seek to inspire a love for the sport by providing an introduction to horseback riding that is lighthearted yet instructive. The morning will be divided between horse care, visits with farm animals, lead line riding, art projects and snack time.
- Level One Camp is offered only in the afternoon and is designed so that no more than two campers will share a counselor, providing campers with quality instruction and supervision. Campers will become proficient riders and will acquire the skills to ride safely in the arena or on the trail.
- Level Two and Level Three Camps are also offered half day and are specifically designed for intermediate to advanced riders ages nine to 14. Prior to enrolling in these levels, a private lesson is required to evaluate skills to ensure proper placement. Each camper will have his or her own horse and will spend a minimum of one and a half hour on horseback. Campers will become proficient in lead changes, cantering, and navigating difficult terrain.
Piping Rock Equestrian Center’s dynamic camps provide a uniquely rewarding way for children to spend their summer in the Tahoe-Truckee area. Enrollment is now open for the Summer of 2012. The owners of Piping Rock take pride in their well trained horses and their experienced staff who are excited to share their passion for riding with a new generation of horse lovers. Camp sessions will be offered in one week increments from June 18 through Aug. 24.
