It’s no surprise, but The Ritz-Carlton is a true 5-star property in North Lake Tahoe, perfect for weddings and a luxurious getaway. Three restaurants, health club and sauna, large event space and a ballroom are just a few of the amenities available. Maybe that’s why they were added to AAA’s Five Diamond list, which according to AAA “represent just 0.3 percent of the total 59,000 AAA/CAA Approved and Diamond Rated lodgings and restaurants.” USA Today reported on the Ritz-Carlton’s newly acquired rating:
When people with deep pockets come here in the winter and easily spend $700 or more per night just on their room rate, they’re coming for several reasons:
- Ski-in/ski-out access to Northstar-at-Tahoe.
- To eat and enjoy apres-ski cocktails at award-winning chef Tracy Des Jardins’ restaurant Manzanita.
- To book a massage at the hotel’s 17,000-square-foot spa.
- To take an apres-ski dip in the large, outdoor pool that gets heated as high as 95 degrees in the winter. It’s common to see families in their robes walking through the lobby toward this time of year, Highfield says.
