More than 5,000 attended last summer’s first Wanderlust, which received national attention. “Breathe in, rock out,” was a description used by the New York Times.
Wanderlust is the brainchild of Grant, a yoga instructor and actress, and her husband Jeff Kranso, a Brooklyn music promoter.
“It was an incredibly positive experience for us,” Kranso told Lake Tahoe Action last summer. “It seems like everybody had a really, really great time.”
Kranso initially envisioned having several summertime Wanderlust events throughout North America. With its infrastructure and Olympic history, Squaw Valley was Kranso’s choice to hold the first event, one which said he could learn from before adding more festivals. It needs to be relatively small to make it a good experience for the festival-goers, he said after last year’s festival. Wanderlust would lose its charm if 20,000 attended. The first event revealed things that need “tweaking,” he said.
Expanded yoga offerings, more great music, a complement of organic foods and biodynamic wines, have been added for the second Wanderlust, according to a press statement. Wanderlust showcases a range of teachers, classes and styles that will inspire and challenge all practitioners, from the curious beginner to longtime students.
