Lake Tahoe’s West Shore is full of beautiful beaches. These are great spots to relax, take a swift or have a barbeque. Here’s what you need to know to choose a beach that’s right for you.

Kaspian Recreation Area

South of Sunnyside on State Route 89. Campsites across highway, rest rooms, picnic facilities, BBQ.

William Kent Campground

Near Sunnyside on State Route 89. Rocky beach with room for sunbathing, rest rooms, picnic.

Sugar Pine Point State Park

1 mile south of Tahoma on Hwy. 89. More lake-edge than beach. Nature trails, pier, rest rooms, picnic facilities, historic Ehrman Mansion. Parking fee. (800) 444-7275.

Meeks Bay

On Hwy. 89, 10 miles south of Tahoe City, adjacent to Meeks Bay Campground. White sand beach, boat launch, day use fee, rest rooms, picnic facilities.

D.L. Bliss State Park

On Hwy. 89 between Meeks Bay and Emerald Bay, large camping area, reservations a must, beach, picnic tables, firepits. Day-use parking fee, beach fee, and other use fees. (800) 444-7275.

Emerald Bay Beach

Limited parking, accessible only by one-mile, steep, sandy hike from parking lot on Hwy. 89 or by trail from Bliss Park, about 4 miles. Picnic tables, historic Vikingsholm Castle, views of the only island in Lake Tahoe.
