Looking for some entertainment as you head to Lake Tahoe for your winter break? Fear not, good traveler, Lake Tahoe winter events are sure to keep you busy, entertained and most likely you’ll book next year’s visit halfway through this one.
Looking for some adventure? Check the Snowshoe Social and Race Series at Northstar, or Slide Back Retro Day at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, if you’re into rad ’80s gear and downhill snow madness. There’s the Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Race for the romantic, the Alpine Meadows Telemark Festival and Big Mountain Challenge for the avid skier, and Snowfest for everything in between. Explore the backcountry on a guided full-moon hike, or if the weather’s cooperative, a full-moon snowshoe expedition.
Check the local venues for great music events, like the Holiday Jazz Fest in North Shore, and make sure to reserve a seat at one of the Toccata-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra’s many winter concerts. If you’re looking for revelry and merriment, you’ll find New Year’s Eve festivities abound, from Stateline to Crystal Bay and every town in between, with music, fireworks and great stay-and-play packages. Or maybe you’d like to kick off your ski season at a Warren Miller Movie Premier at Stateline.
To get Christmas started, check out the Kings Beach Holiday Fair and and Tree Lighting Ceremony, or head to Truckee for the Tree Lighting Festivities, to name a few. If you’re into film, check out the Telluride Mountain Film Festival at Squaw Valley, enjoying the incredible mountain valley while you’re there.
