Event Parking & Public Transportation
Lake Tahoe parking and transportation has been planned to keep you stress free, with convenient park-and-ride options, as well as a north-shore bus, the Tahoe Trolley service, operating for around $2 a ride. For your round-the-lake bus needs, check out TART, Tahoe Area Regional Transit, operating buses for less than $2 one way. Catch TART at the Y in Tahoe City to shuttle down to Squaw Valley or Truckee. In addition to TART, most of the resort hotels offer a shuttle service to the mountain resorts, and many of the resorts run regular shuttles into town. These are often on double duty during festivals and events, and often include transportation of your ski/snowboard and bike equipment, some for an additional charge.
For transportation options in South Lake Tahoe, check out BlueGO, which offers regular bus routes, ski shuttles, seasonal trolleys and commuter express routes to the Carson Valley area.
As far as parking goes, most of the resorts and casinos offer covered parking for visitors. You can also park in the recreational area parking lots during off season, and street parking is available in abundance along the perimeter of the lake. And keep in mind that most of the organized events around Lake Tahoe provide parking and transportation between the parking sites and actual event sites.
